College: Florida A & M University
Major: Broadcast Journalism
Career Goals:
My career goal is
to become a lead sports anchor for a major sports network like ESPN, CBS, or Fox Sports. In order to do this I first
must get my bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism. While doing that I will also do my best to learn the
ins and outs of the business.
What I mean by this is the things that happen
behind the scenes like the videographers, sound technicians, the gathering of information, reporting, producing and directoring.
The whole production part of the business is very interesting to me. Being a producer for a sports network is also
a goal of mine. Editing and putting together sports highlight reels, and adding music to it. That's the stuff
that gets the blood flowing in my veins. To me there's nothing like sitting down at a computer and going through
hours of highlights, and finding the perfect hit, the perfect run, or the perfect catch and then finding
the perfect track to put to it. That's my passion and that's my love.
All those things are great, but my first and true
love is sports anchoring. I want to one day become a sports anchor like Stuart Scott, Greg Gumble, Chris Berman, or
James Brown(Fox Sports). Another person I believe is the best at what he does is Gene Deckerhoff who is a radio
commentator for the Florida State Seminoles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Those are just some of the people that I
look up to. Talking about sports is something that I have always been good at. I believe that there is no one
out there that can out argue me in any sports argument. I study all the major sports and make sure I know exactly
what I want to say, but I can make you think I know what i'm talking about even if I have no idea about the story. This
is my calling in life.
